Our Mission

The David MacIver Loman Foundation turns loss into light by supporting mental health, recovery, and suicide prevention. In David's honor, we support people in seeking help without shame and finding healing through compassionate community, connection, and movement — because hope is always within reach.

David MacIver Loman was a son, brother, friend, coach, mentor, and humanitarian whose heart left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He lived a life defined by compassion, creativity, and unwavering support of others. Whether coaching young skiers down the mountain, appreciating films and storytelling, or simply being a steadfast friend and family member, David showed up with deep love and authenticity. His humor, warmth, and loyalty were constants, even as he quietly navigated struggles with mental health and alcohol that few could see.

On April 15, 2025, just days after his 37th birthday, David took his own life. His loss shattered those who loved him, but it also illuminated a truth: that too many people suffer in silence, and too many families face grief that might have been prevented. This foundation was born from that loss — and from a determination to turn heartbreak into hope.

Our Primary Mission: Mental Health Support and Suicide Prevention

At the heart of our work is a commitment to breaking the stigma around mental health struggles and addiction. We provide resources, education, and compassionate support for those navigating depression, anxiety, alcoholism, and other challenges — and for the loved ones who stand beside them. We believe that seeking help is an act of courage, not weakness, and that healing is always possible through community, connection, and compassionate care.

This work is deeply personal. It's rooted in David's own struggles and in the belief that no one should face darkness alone. Through direct support, advocacy, and education, we aim to save lives and foster a world where people can seek help without shame.

Honoring David's Passions

David made the world brighter through the things he loved. In his memory, we also support initiatives that bring joy, creativity, and light to others:

  • Skiing and Ski Racing: offering scholarships, mentorship, and support to young athletes pursuing the sport David loved, coached, and excelled in.
  • Film, Creativity, and Storytelling: celebrating and nurturing a love for film, reading, and the art of storytelling — pursuits that David cherished deeply.

These aren't just nostalgic tributes — they're active ways to make the world a little lighter, a little warmer, and a little more connected, just as David did.

Make a Donation in David's Honor

If David touched your life — or if his story moves you — we invite you to make a tax-deductible donation to the Foundation created in his memory.

No amount is too small. No gesture goes unnoticed. Every donation helps keep David’s light alive — in others’ lives, and in the world he made brighter.

“In a gentle way, you can shake the world.” — Mahatma Gandhi

David did — and through this work, he still will.
